Astronomical Society of East Texas

The Astronomical Society of East Texas (ASET) is an astronomy club dedicated to the pursuit and promotion of amateur astronomy in the East Texas region. Most members live in or about Tyler, Texas, but some live as far away as Longview, Palestine, and Nacogdoches.

Quite a bit of discussion takes place on our Yahoo Groups forum (click here to subscribe). The list is moderated by Robert Burns, and if you have trouble subscribing, contact him at rd-burns@tamu.edu.

In June 2007 we began holding monthly meetings at the Hudnall Planetarium in Tyler, where ASET has had a long tradition of participating in public star parties. During this same month we merged with the Stephen F. Austin University astronomy group, which combines Tyler's astronomy activities with the unique academic and research community that exists in Nacogdoches.

ASET holds monthly dark-sky parties at several remote observing sites throughout East Texas. For more information please contact one of the officers listed below or sign up on our Yahoo Groups forum.

You don't have to own a telescope to participate in ASET activities. All you need bring is enthusiasm!
